Learn how to relax, pin and display a beautiful Salamis butterfly in this class. The Salamis Parhassus is a stunning pink/purple butterfly with a mother-of-pearl sheen. They are native to the forested areas from Africa to Madagascar. The butterflies provided in this class, and all of our insect specimens are collected from butterfly pavilions and sanctuaries post-natural death.
You will learn how to make an easy DIY relaxing chamber, how to tell when the butterfly is relaxed enough for pinning and the general length of time it takes to relax a butterfly.
You will receive one relaxed Pink/Purple Salamis Parhassus butterfly (pictured), your own Entomology pins, 1 pinning board, 1 matte black frame and decorating materials.
We will build the display in class and you will be responsible for attaching your insect at home when it has dried. You will be provided with the tools and knowledge to do this.
